I was one of the official photographers at the Don Spencer ACMF Charity Ball the other week and a Mr. Tom Burlinson was doing Sinatra pretty bloody well.

Here are a few of what I snapped:

the first one is good with the couple in the shot
although it seems there wasn't enough light on them at the time

and the last one is great

i saw these in colour and think they worked slightly better
because of the atmospherics it portrayed

Nice Leigh
#3 is my pick of them, simple yet conveys a lot of emotion.

#1 and #4 for me, and I'd be keen to see the colour version if your feel like sharing.

I've seen the colour ones now, and pffft Leigh has nailed the B&W conversion it's heaps better then the colour.

A great series and subject appropriate treatment Leigh. #1 is my Pick for its power and composition has the greatest impact and play between the elements. You have really captured the essence of this performance here and the subtle relationship between artist and performer. #2, compositionally is OK but Tom's eyes are spooky almost unsettling, I can't figure out what is going on with them here. A simple function of timing and perspective I guess :?
The last is also strong although I would have preferred a little more space for Tom's left shoulder and head, a little too tightly cropped there I feel, to balance the image
cheers

Marco,

His eyes are actually closed in the shot you find spooky.
