Here are a few of my bee shots taken just before Winter set in. All were shot with my 60mm macro lens in my back garden.

A beautiful reminder of warmer days. I really like #2 Murray - the colour and composition are spot on.

All are great but that first one is a cracker.

Stop shooting bees now........ let me catch up as I have not had my macro very long....... great capture on all........

Lighting is simply my flash in the hot shoe with a Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce attached to soften and throw some light down in front of the lens. The black background is due to the fast shutter and small aperture ( 200sec, f/16 ) so no ambient light enters the shot, only flash light.

All images are sharp Murray. Love the lighting in the shots. I like #1(for its sense of movement and dark background that highlights the subject - I would however be tempted to experiment with tighter cropping on this one removing some of the OOF stamens on the left side and space on top) and #2 it has a certain elegance and I like the OOF background here too that enables subject isolation with a hint of the environment.

Thanks Marco. I had a tighter crop of the first ready to post but decided not to. The bee certainly looks better and more detailed but the shot seemed to lack something. Not sure if it was a lack of depth or something else, but I preferred the wider view. I'll post the tighter crop when I get home tonight to see if you agree with me.
