In my original post of these pics I received some quite valuable critique. In the images below I've reflected on the comments made and have redone the PP on 3 of the original images and replaced the 4th. All images have had the saturation toned down. I'd be interested in your opinions on this.

Some comments from the original thread that I took particular note of:
Matt. K wrote:the colours of all the images appear heavily saturated. They don't look natural... The other thing that seems to distract is that they are so tightly cropped that there is no space for the image to express itself. You have caged the images and they look uncomfortable... In regard to image #1 take a good look and see if you can find the compositional lines of direction...where do they lead the eye? Out of the picture? That is why the image has little visual tension. It bleeds out along those lines. There is no point of interest strong enough to arrest that.

This is a replacement for the original zebra shot. I chose this because it was less tight on the zebra.

No comments. Maybe these are worse than what I started with or maybe no eye contact  :)

It's a tough world out there eh Stubbsy! I think these are generally improvements on the originals, but (apart from the Seal) they don't stand out.
You need to keep trying though, as if you are able to bring some of your skills from other topics, then I am sure you will find a style of your own at the zoo :) Think differently, see what you can achieve, as there are many many opportunities for some 'different' shots at Taronga.

Hi Peter,

much improved. Your new ones on f#1 and #4 are much better but still not standing out like your usual shots.

Getting rid of the blue cast certainly helped, but still find it a bit too tight of a crop on the seal.

cheers,

André
