These are from Taronga a few weeks back.

#1. This would have been better if he had looked at the camera, but he seemed more interested in the plump kid next to me for some reason.

#2. Decent eye contact here though.

#3. This also would of been better with eye contact, but you get what you can from the crowd.

#4. A big yawn on a cold Winter morning.

Lovely shots Murray. One question... was there a reflection off to the left of the tiger that gives the shot, to me at least, a bluish tint? The whites just don't seem totally true.

Well spotted, I hadn't noticed till you pointed it out. I don't remember what was to his left, but I just looked at the full sized image and there is a very distinct blue cast. There must have been something blue there. The keepers often give them cardboard boxes and toys to play with, so it might of been from something like that.

Murray,

I've seen heaps of lion/tiger shots on this forum and this series of yours is one of the best I've seen. Love the close-up of lioness in second shot.

Great work

Cheers

Thanks for your comments guys. The second one started as a head shot but there were some reflections in the glass that spoiled the picture, so I cropped them away and was left with her eyes.

Terrific lighting and exposure Murray. You have really captured the essence of these animals. The eyes have it! :)
