I know, the most photographed object in Australia, but Glen's magnificent avatar inpsired me to post a shot or two of the coathanger. I like the tri-colour nature of this early evening shot taken about two weeks ago. Max

For some strange reason, I can see this image on my kid's PC, but the pixspot image will not show on my Mac's browser. Any ideas as to why?

I dont mind this shot. is another view point on a much photographed icon.

There is a problem with hosting images on pixspot though max.
they blocked hotlinking a good while ago and images arent viewable within the post.
It is necessary for us to copy the location of the image and paste it into a new windows.

lots of the other free image hosters work including photobucket.
or take advantage of cheap dreamhost deals made available by MHD and others.

I love the colours, but I'm undecide about the composition. Knowing the subjest so well, as we all do, it seems to be clipped, which of course it is.

That's good, because it makes it different.

But that's also its weakness, because it appears to be "cut off"

I don't know what the answer is. It needs to be a much closer image to become a detail .... it's sort of halfway between a detail and a photo of the bridge.

Definitely is cut off, different, thanks for the feedback, it is such a photographed icon that it always begs for a different treatment I think.

You can achieve some great shots walking the bridge, there are plenty of angles that present themselves - some in my 'on the harbour' gallery.

Funnily enough, I really love the old bridge, in fact I love Sydney. I worked in the city for many years (Sydney Water Board & Australian Airlines), but not for the past 15 years. I suppose absence makes the heart grow fonder etc etc. Only get to visit the city once or twice a year and so like the place a lot. Can't say the same for the airport though.

Having said all that, I don't miss the train commute from Merrylands, or the daily drive to town from St Marys. Coffs Hbr is a hard place to live in, but somebody has to do it!

The harbour bridge is such a photogenic subject I always enjoy seeing different interpretations of it...

The color is stunning but I just couldn't put my finger on why it doesn't seem to do it for me, and I think Gary picked it... Maybe it's because it's so familiar we tend to expect to see the pylons (hmmm, not sure whether that's what they're actually called.. You know, the support bits at each end ) at each end and it seems to be just "hanging" there...

The color makes this though, beautiful color and the skyline in the silohette at the bottom adds good interest too...

Those guys up the top were treated to quite the sun set. I agree with Gary that it looks a touch clipped, but still lovely colours.

Terrific shot max. Love the vibrant colours and the gentle graduation between them. It's certainly a different take on the ol' coathanger.
