I think Mother nature was playing nasty tricks on photographers making black and white birds, an exposure nightmare

I like the narrow DOF of the first making the viewer focus (excuse the pun) on the central subject but strewth, gonna struggle with exposure on that bird...

The exposure on the white one is bloody great, would be tricky getting such nice feather detail on a stark white bird, you've done a good job on the exposure, I would have blown it to buggery Great to get the reflection like that too...

You have some nice shots in your gallery, the "Purple Swamphen at Underwood Park" is a pearler...

of course posting a duck now makes you a fully fledged member of these forums now!!

Avkomp, you are so right. A duck portrait makes one properly appreciate the D70. Please see my own 'wedding duck' portrait elsewhere to confirm. Steve, if she gets jilted at the altar your own white drake having a sip at the edge is my pick of the two beaus for her new consort.

thanks for the comments guys. These 2 were taken with the D200. The metering on it seems much better than the D70 with these 'hard to get right' subjects.
