Cat pictures seem all the rage...

cats make interesting subjects.

although I am not a cat person, they do have certain character.

I am guessing that the light was fairly harsh, but having said that you have compensated well by going for the Bw conversion.

that makes the image work. I am sure your wife loves this and it looks great on her computer

my mother is animal mad, i grew up with 6 dogs and 4 cats, my first word was a bark.
god i need therapy.

anyways, i like that shot alot. b&w suits the lighting, nice and sharp and his whole face is in focus which appeals to me.

I like this shot, would I be right in guessing this is a green or blue channel view of a ginger cat? It always seems to get the sharpest shot of fur with my daughter's ginger rat bag Martin.

Great shot owen, beautifully realised.

We are cat people, would love a dog too, but not sure whether we could
be bothered. That's one thing about cats - they are fairly self sufficient.

Our moggy is completely black, and let me tell you, that creates some
challenges when trying to photograph her.

But your shot here is really something, I like it a lot, and your wife must
be very happy and wondering what more photographic gear you could buy.

We have two indoor cats, and as such they require constant cleaning and feeding... so that's why I'm not allowed to get a dog I have it in a verbal contract though that when one of the cats goes the way of old yella' then I can get a dog.

I honestly don't remember how I converted it to b&w, it was taken a few weeks ago. The light was from the SB600 that was sitting on the same table as the cat. He turned and looked at the flashes and was staring right at it - I think I'm sending him blind with all the photos I take of him

Not being qualified to comment on the photographic qualities of the picture, I can add a lay view. Its great. Perfect as a desktop background, allowing for great icon contrast.

The good thing about cats is that you can get a shot like that. A dog would want to jump and lick you if you got down to its level

Or maybe its just our crazy beagle - it needs a therapist

I wish i had a cat. i would have about 1 million photos of it.
instead im left to photography my sisters cats.
that is a very nice photo. i love the dark dark eyes with only a tiny glint in them. very nicely taken especially knowing cats can be gone in the flash of a light! well done

I really like this image. We have a snow white cat and this has inspired me to track her down and see what I can do. The trouble in the past I have had is getting the cat to sit still.

Great shot Owen. Animals, especially pets (that tend to come straight at yoiu as soon as you point a camera at them), can be very difficult subjects but you hvae nailed this one. Well done
