On Saturday we decided to visit the Blue Mountains. Primarily just to get out of the house and also its been a while since we went on a bushwalk as a family. I found this track (Golden stairs to Ruined Castle) on the internet and was described as "an easy 8km round trip". For most part it was easy but the path down into the valley was quite steep...anyway we all made it back including my little daughter (5 yrs old) who walked all by herself, the whole way (a first for the princess).

Anyway some pics from the walk.

2 and 3 are nice shots. 1 and 4 can be really improved and a lot more puch added by some levels and curves adjustments.

It looks like a great place to visit for photography. I'd be interested in having a look at your modified files.

Sounds like you had a great day. I spent many years bushwalking in Blue Mts, especially Narrow Neck, Ruined Castle, Grand Canyon, Neats Glen, Bluegum Forest, usually starting in Blackheath. One time we started out for Richmond via Grose River, but my brother got sick and we retraced out steps back up to Blackheath after getting about halfway!

Nice photos and some great memories for your family.

P.S. You need to try Carlon Head, (off Narrowneck Peninsula) but not with your kids, it's a bit tricky and very steep. Max

A nice series Oz, they seem to capture the scenes as well as the detail of the trip.

#2 and #3 are my faves too. The first and last landscape shots seem to suffer a bit from the haze, which is unavoidable unless you're up at first light or stay till late arvo - impractical for us day trippers I reckon.

liked the colours in the sunset in your gallery also.

some of this scenery was crying out for a pano or 2.
dont suppose you shot any of those??

Tony - They were tweaked , but maybe not enough. I used the 70-200 for both those shots (#1 @ 70mm morning, #4 @ 200mm late afternoon). I will have a further play and see what I can come up with. It was a foggy type of day....Thanks for the CC

Jonas, Thanks mate. Like I said the haze is more likely from the foggy condiions. I tweaked the pics abit but will see what happens when I push the notch a little more

Actually Mike, I think it's "Carlon" Head, it's quite a good walk from Katoomba, along Narrowneck peninsula, then down the spikes in the wall to the Burragorang valley. It's definitely not for the fainthearted or vertigo plagued, but easy enough all the same.

Dave it may be a little oversaturated, but doesn't look too bad on my uncalibrated lcd. Let me know when you eval at home.

I visited the Blue Mountains (from Brisbane) just a few weeks ago and spent time taking pics at Katoomba. The mountains really are a photographer's dream.

Some nice pics there and look forward to more.
