Back at the snow!

Here's a couple of photos from the ACT/Southern Zone interschools snowsports qualifiers. This was the snowboard GS event which was held at Front Valley at Perisher. Competitors negotiate a course where they have to turn on the outside of the flags

I'm trying to slowly understand how to take photos in this sort of environment. I think its going to take a while :)

I like the motion blur in #3, but prefer being able to see the face in #1 & 2.

Perhaps try shooting a little later in the turn, once the rider is past the flag? If possible I'd set myself up close to the sharpest turn for so that the rider is right at the apex of their turn when you snap them.

OT: How are those snowboarders supposed to race with their pants around their legs like that? :P

Shakey, i think these are very well done, i like #3 as well a bit of motion blur there but all in all well done.

would have preferred the first one a little later as others have said.

3rd is the most dramatic, conveying a sense of motion

They are very good, specially #3 on the motion blurr :D
