My better half

On a more personal subject close to my heart, my better half volunteered herself to let me take some photos :)

At Fed Square using one of the light posts...same place I went awhile ago to experiment with some self portraiture.

Using the sc29, bounced the flash off the wall to her right side

Using the sc29, direct at 2 o'clock.

I've been dying to try out the sc29 with different flash locations to see what sort of effects I can achieve.

Wayne, that second shot with the bounced flash is EXCELLENT. Beatiful soft lighting effect. very, very, very nice.
A POW contender?

I like your shots wayne. Just find that the dark hair and the dark background meld together. Also in the last shot the line above your wives head is distracting, could clone that out. Otherwise great work, very sharp.

Agree that the second pic is great, the bounce flash has illuminated your wife just right and the pose is an intimate one, nice work.

hi wayne

are they all taken at the same lightpost?

it's great to see you searching for good light instead of relying on your flash

i liek the first one hasd a madonna quality to it i would of just got her to look down slightly quarter profile facing you and tried one with a more subtle smile
but lighting and exposure is good

also if your shootign outdoors at nighty try to fidn lighting locations where out of focussed areas produce more of those gorgeous light discs
i se soem in the 1st portrait but from memory know at fed square there are many cars passign by int he background you coudl of got more dynamic background effects if you included that in the background

overall nice work and i', glad your lucky enough to have a signifcant other

Great photos, Wayne. I found No.1 a bit too soft for my liking. No. 2 is certainly the pick of the bunch for me.

Cheers
Alex

Thanks for the comments everyone. Hrmmm I should burn out that bkg in the third pic. Will repost.

Wendell - Only the first pic was using existing light. The rest were using flash on the sc29. Thanks for the tip about shooting outdoors at night and watching out for backgrounds :) Have a couple of places in mind.

Here's a rework of the third version.

Now I feel there's too much negative space and it might have to be a square crop :?
