Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

These were amongst my first shots with my new D200, and my new (old) AI 105 f/2.5. This lens is a stunner! :)

Any comments appreciated, especially which of the last pic or its alternative you think works best!

Great pics Trent, especially 1 and 2. I like the story in 4 as well.

I don't know whether you heard the guy in number 2 "play" his recorder or not....absolutely atrocious. Playing every morning as I pass him on my way to work.

COngratulations on the new toy. How are you finding the new camera?

Trent, I like the last pic as posted (the 4th in the post) rather than the wider crop on your website. The tighter crop tells more of a story IMHO, the wider crop doesn't have the same impact. What came into my head when I saw the pic was "what killed the bear, cigs or milk?". Probably just indicates I've got a warped brain or had a misspent youth or something. Just in case, I've given up both so hope to live longer than the bear.

The second shot is my pick from the rest. The first looks a bit staged (although I accept that probably it's not).

Good stuff Trent, although there's far too many megapixels, could you clone out a few :)

#1 - Looks like you missed the focus a bit? The feet look sharp but the hat doesn't - it would have worked better the other way around.

#2 - Great shot, and would look lovely in B&W. Definitely my pick of the bunch.

#3 - Nice abstract, but neither the colour nor light is enough to really me, just lacks a bit of oomph.

#4 - Definitely prefer this one to the alternative posted - again, I'd give this a go in B&W. I really like this shot, but colour is doing it no service.

I guess I'm just used to the Shiela Smart high contrast B&W treatment, but it just seems to suit this type of image. Nice work :)
So join in the chorus, and sing it one and all!

Nice shots MCWB, I really like #2 & #4. Both feel like they have a story to tell on life in the area. #3 subject just doesn't appeal to me. #1 is a good shot but the outfit the guy is wearing doesn't seem to fit the scenario & perhaps needs a bit more DOF for my liking. :)
