Wendell was kind enough to come around to my place before the Saturday AW dinner and give me a lesson on the basics of using the SB-800. Here's some of the results (all straight from the camera - no PP other than re-sizing):

Thanks very much Wendell for sharing your time and knowledge with me. Greatly appreciated mate. Thanks also to Loz for the loan of his SB-800. I'm starting to feel a bit more comfortable with the equipment now and my results are starting to slowly improve as I continue to practice.

3rd and 4th the lighting is superb :) Did you use the sc29 as well?

third one works best

i think the settings would of been f4 1/250 (background dark)
ISO 200

with that 11 o' clock lighting which only really works on models or people with strong facial features
