Chris - just love the composition and colours: very moody.

Looks more like a shot from 1864.

I'd even go a century further - 1764 - looks like a Turner painting.
Beautiful shot. The colour and the wonderful contrast are fantastic! :D

I have been trying to remember the name of the sailing ship in the photo. For the life of me I can’t remember - all I can say is the photo was taken from Kings College

One of the most complex images I've seen posted here Chris. Would hate to have to disect it academically and explain its composition! Nice and very different. :D

Awesome image, although EXIF isn't intact, reckon you could shoot it again?

More seriously, that is a stunning shot, and my pick for POTW by far :)

Thanks Patrick - EXIF data does not exist for this very old pic

Interesting composition, and fantastic colour.

I believe there was an older standard called GLIF (pronounced glyph), noted for its unreliable and somewhat laggy nature. The write once storage media, often taking a rectangular form shipped in a small bound bulk media carrier with hard covers, was particularly susceptible to water and fire damage. GLIF was also protected from electromagnetic field damage. The GLIF data could be securely disposed of using a bulk eraser known as a shredder.

GLIF gave way to EXIF partly due to its synchronous write capabilities at the time of image capture, and its less ambiguous metadata to data cardinality.
 :D

(translation: writing your roll/frame number in a notepad with your exposure settings).

I'd love that, though. Would be very interesting to learn why it is so appealing.

Cheers
Steffen.
