Some candids from the AW ferry hop last weekend. More can be found HERE. As I am wont to say - not my usual style.

Peter - is there a PS effect on #1 of Jack? Just looked at the larger verison, looks a little out of the ordinary.

Hi Peter

Very nice capture of those candids, some of those seem very familiar :D , I might've seen them somewhere.

The shot of Paul is great.

A sort of "What are you looking at expression"

Slight pity that you didn't quite nail the DOF, but it still works very well.

Geoff - Thanks for the tip on #1 - I overdid the sharpening & noise reduction. Replaced with a redone version.

Nick - the shot of Paul REALLY annoys me. I like the composition and everything about the shot except the DOF is shallow as you say so Paul's nose is in focus, but not his eyes. I came close to dumping the image, but ti's other qualities wone me over.

What's your white balance technique stubbsy? These feel really clean.

Excellent candids by the way, you can really feel the personalities in the images.

Liam

These were put through DxO Optics Pro using it's default settings. For these images they ended up with a slight yellow cast which I then removed in Photoshop using the Nik Color Efex Remove Color Cast filter. That's it. Apart from the shot of Paul, these were taken with the 28-70 f/2.8 which seems to render very crisp images.

Peter, it is still an excellent shot. I'd be very happy to have taken it.
The DOF is a small pity - if your image was not so strong it would be much more of a detractor.

EDIT: Just noticed with your frames that the top is slightly shorter than the sides - I think it would look better if the top and sides were equal but the bottom larger like it is.
