A few shots from our whale watching tour in Kaikoura

I was so annoyed with the shots of the whale - I only had the 80-200 for about 2 days and was too enamoured with the zoom that I didn't think to widen it to allow all the tail in.....

One and two are beautiful Patrick, I think they'd go well side by side in a nice frame! The third one, doesn't really hold enough interest or definition to me. By definition I don't mean detail, to me it's just a bird.

Thanks Geoff, I only noticed the one of the albatross last night going through a bunch of our photos from NZ (3000 in total), I just liked the composition and the shadow on the water.

Of this particular whale, from the moment it started to dive to the time it was gone, I had the shutter pressed and took about 36 shots. Playing them back in quick sequence on the ipod, it was almost like a [bad] video!

I guess it means we have to back to Kaikoura to do another whale watching tour :cry:
