Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.
Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.
Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.
Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Taken about 150klms off the coast of NSW in the Tasman Sea yesterday (15 Aug).
A very large waterspout thinned out and became a vigorous and agile thin waterspout as shown below in the pic i took. There was a very large thunderstorm above it.
We headed the ship closer to it but it fizzled out before we got much closer than i got in the shot.
Colour to show what it looked like and B&W in an effort to get a bit more contrast out of it. The distance and darkness contributed to make photographing a 'cool' image impossible. This is the best i got.
Specs: Nikon D2H and 80-200mm @ 200mm

Ahhh - seems you're slowly finding your way home!
Nice timing to capture this - I'm amazed by these things.

Yep, back in Sydney now. I was enjoying the summer sunshine, 'up north.' I'm not here for long though before i go somewhere else.
I've seen a few waterspouts over the years but this is the first i have been able to photograph. In fact, when i was living in Hervey Bay, QLD, I was there when a waterspout made landfall and slowly made it's way through the council caravan park before losing it's energy and collapsing in a wall of water. It made a mess of the park and flooded the main road too.
They are much more common than tornados in the Australia area. Well, i assume they are as i've only seen one tornado and several waterspouts over here.

Great image Steve! It's a pity you couldn't get closer to it, but you've done well anyway! I'd love to be in close proximity to a water spout....with camera handy of course!
