Hi,
I took some night pictures recently with my McTripod which I got free in a happy meal!
So here are two views of the ANZAC memorial and a wee tower on Pyrmont bridge. Honest C&C very welcome.
Cheers

Gorgeous reflections and compositiuons Matt

They are all sweet but #1 is my pick in this set. Smooth tonal change, beautifully exposed and the colour just adds another dimension.
#2 has great balance. Just wondering why the light/hotspot on the post on right side of the image didn't reflect back in the water or did you clone it out?
I assume the D200 here Matt. Lens? What ISO? Noise levels seem very low
cheers

Gorgeous images Matt,
same here love all three. The first one is beautifully exposed and also really the composition on the last two.
cheers,
André

Matt - throw away the MacTripod as all of the shots are wobbly
Seriously - fine, sharp shots but I can’t see you in them. . .

Very nice shots.
The 1st is just electric.

The first is my pick, I find the lights from the office building too distracting in the other two.
Now, for the ignorant amongst us, what the hell is a McTripod?

Nice shots. Like others, 1 is my favourite. Simple yet striking.
OK don't bash me for this but whereabout is the anzac memorial ?

Matt
I also think #1 is an excellent image, but for me #3 is the pick. I like the B & W conversion and the landscape crop. The shrine is a dominant, but not overpowering element in the shot which anchors the eye yet allows time to take in the serene reflection in the water and the dusting of city lights.

I like them all as well Matt, I think it's the symmetry in the shots, brilliant!

These are all fantastic shots, inspiring and not a lomo filter in sight!
But it may be just the monitor or mctripod but in#1 do the central structure appear to be leaning back and slightly to the right?
Also the horizons about 0.2 off in #3
Excuse me I'm in a bad mood and feeling very picky

Many thanks everyone.
TO answer a few questions, a McTripod is something that you can get from:
a. a cracker
b. free with a happy meal
c. as the consolation prize in most under 11 painting competitions.
Needless to say it is a very very poor excuse for a tripod and I am investigating some proper ones as of now!!
Marco, the lens was the good ole 18-70. Pretty sharp when it needs to be.
Thank you for the postitive comments everyone.

Matt
Your black and white conversions are excellent! How did you convert the images?

WOW, breathtaking, and inspirational! Well done, and thank you for sharing.
After a few minutes on each, the feedback i could give is cropping and horizons. They appear to be slightly off horizontal, and the first one feels off centre.
Those are easy adjustments, YOUR WORK IS GREAT!

Matt, trial and error really.
I use the channel mixer in mono
mode and then bump up the contrast slightly.
The horizons seemed off to me. 3 is definately off but 2 I can't make my mind up. When i scroll the horizon down to the bottom of the browser it seems to line up - I think it might be the buildings behind?

i think its the white line on the edge of the water.
in photoshop with the grid lines on the building and flag poles look vertical, but that white line slopes.
Correct for the white line and the picture feels alright.
no 2 its so slight, but 3 its a bit.
Great framing

Great framing rokkstar. I also like the sharpness of the colour photo and the nostalgic black and white of a bygone era.
Honestlly guys the more pictures I see the more I realise how much I need to learn and pratice.

I like both,
I recognise the first location.
Where is the second location (the B/W) ?
Is it Hyde Park ?
Thanks for showing,
cheers - CD
