Had a chance to try covering a night hockey match for the first time. This was a match for the Singapore International Hockey Challenge, a match between Singapore and Pakistan. Some shots from the evening
#1 Taking a short corner
#2 Scoring a goal
#3 One of the few chances for attack for Singapore
#4 Another breakaway

Nice images under difficult lighting conditons. You must have had the lens wide open. #2 is an obvious stand out - the timing of the capture, your position and the composition of it all work. It is not luck to get shots like this - well done.
Cheers,

do you know if Sohail Abbasi was playing? if Pakistan scored any goals he would of scored at least one of them. Great player, very fast and his flickers are unbelievable.
I would also like to know the equipment used. Just out of interest where was the game played?
Are you a fan of Field Hockey?

Thanks guys for the comments. Yep, the lighting in the stadium wasn't all that great, was struggling to get the shutter speed fast enough even at ISO 1600 and a lot of the times the players faces had shadows.
Shot these pics with a D200, 70-200 VR wide open at 2.8, ISO around 1250 - 1600, shutter speed ranged from 1/160 - 1/250.
Laurie,
Yes, Abbasi was playing and he did score one of Pakistan's 8 goals. The game was played at the Delta stadium in Singapore. I sort of enjoy watching field hockey as I used to play it back in primary school.
Great action pictures

Great shots, Especially the action shots. Nice DOF under harsh conditions. Well done. Any more shot of them scoring goals or in interesting challenges?
Cheers, Mick
