Went to a friend's gig on Friday night and these guys were playing as well. Friday night really made me not like the D70 as one half of the stage was being pumped with red and yellow lights and the other side was pumped with green. Go the colour combination :)

Basically worked under crappy lighting conditions and at high ISO jumping from 800 to 1250. Used the 20mm 2.8, 50 1.8 and 80-200 2.8.

Probably one of my fave pics from the night.

Wayne,

The second of these is great. Difficult lighting conditions, but the whole stage and all of the band, well exposed, with great feel.

Well done.

lots of cool lighting effects there in yout gallery the set looks great

once this band member asked me to shoot their band, i used slow shutterspeeds to get those trippy movements, apparently thats exactly what they wanted not technical low light sharp pics but ones with more style and expression

Thanks for the comments and feedback guys.

Yeh I understand that it's all about the action and the mood, but some of the shots that I wanted to capture weren't up to my expectations. Ahh well gotta keep trying :)

PiroStitch they are great shots and I agree with Gstark the second looks best although the first image has a certain blues look about it. I think you captured the ambience of the moment.

Number 2 is a great band shot, captures the feel pretty well I think. I don't think achieving perfect WB is the aim here!

Cheers

When the lighting gets too crappy then think black & white.

Thanks guys. Yeh I wasn't going too much for the perfect WB as I wanted to retain the lighting :)

Matt - yup that's my theory too but I started getting a bit lazy and didn't want to do too many of the pics in b&w :D But I did convert some of the pics where the red channel was completely blown and their faces ended up as two tone...
