Not used the 70-200mm for any shots less than about 30 metres away, I thought this actually turned out ok. Would like to hear from you guys. What could I do to improve it?

Thanks.

Gorgeous environmental portrait Norbs. Great colour and sharpness. :) Pity the bird wasn't more obliging by eyeballing the camera :(
cheers

exposure wise it looks pretty good.

as far as improvement, there is a fairly steep angle up to the bird.

you generally want to shoot from as close to eyelevel as possible

Strewth this seems so SHARP!

I don't pretend to know the first thing about birding, only thought is maybe to crop some off the top, as it seems to have a fair bit of open space in the top right area? Not sure on the OOF bottom right corner, hmmm, thinking of cropping fairly tight to have just the bird take more of the frame, with the branch going from BR to TL maybe?

Just trying to think of ideas :)

Thanks guys.

@Avcomp : he was at the top of a tree. Makes it a little hard to get at eye level. But I will remember it for next time.

@mudder : good idea about cropping. The sharpness is from the L lense, not the guy behind the camera. :)
