I just recieved my Nikon 28-70mm F2.8 in the mail so i put it on the camera (D2H) and shot the first thing i saw when i stepped out of my workshop.

Nice view.

It's a very nice lens, not just because it's brand new, but mostly because it's sharp and in a focal range that my lens collection was deficient in. I will attempt some portraits in the near future to see how it holds up in that department, but i am happy with it already. <-- big smile.

Nice shots Steve. Have you tried it as a portrait lens yet? My 28-70 arrived this week. I'm planning trying it out doing candid portraits at Salamanca tomorrow. But already I have found it fast to focus and sharp as a tack. My only criticism is the lens hood is very tight and difficult to get it on and off. If it performs as well as I expect tomorrow, I'm considering super glueing it to the d200.

I've been busy at work (packing up and leaving ) so i havent had time to test it as a portrait lens yet. I will though, but maybe not as soon as i would prefer. Maybe next week...... i need to find some suitable victims

I reckon this lens will stay on my camera most of all my lenses. My 85mm 1.4 is still the king of portraits though.
