Hi Adam and welcome.
Interesting subject but I think the composition needs a little work. Unfortunately, the sky is a bit drab to warrant the amount of space you've given it in thsi shot. There's much more to look at in the forground so perhaps a lower erspective next time. Also, you could push the contrast quite a bit as well - it looks very washed out.
I'm sure you've got a million things to shoot in that area and it's all a learning curve so please don't be disheartened with this first attempt. Just get another shot up here pronto!

Welcome aboard Adam - looking forward to seeing more pics from a great part of the country
This pic has potential, perhaps with a little more contrast and less sky at the top (as Manta has already pointed out).

Welcome Adam
Agree with the previous comments about the shot. Broken Hill is an amazing place to photograph, great light and great subject matter. Look forward to seeing more of your posts. I used to live at the Hill and absolutely love the place.

Adam,
Hi, and welcome.
I'd like to see the contrast bumped on this one. It looks, at the moment, dull and drab, and I'm confident that it was anything but that.
Unless you're aiming for a high (or low) key effect, you should probably look towards getting a full range of shadings of black through white in your image. In this one, (and yes, we're talking through a blue wash, but that's not really relevant) that guideline would still be applicable.I'm not seeing that range, and hence it gives the appearance of being flat.
Oh yes ... please try to keep the longest side of any image posted to no more than 800 pixels, as that helps people who are looking at your images to avoid scrolling around the screen in order to see the one image.
Looking forward to your next image; cheerz.

G'day Adam, welcome aboard matey
As you've cloned out powerlines and things and toned the image I assume you enjoy PP, so definately have a play with some curves/levels/contrast... If you want to bring the horizon down in the frame, instead of just cropping, try selecting the sky and going into edit/transform/distort and "pull" the top of the frame down, that'll "squash" the sky down and make the clouds more dramatic... Saw that tip in the Green guide (a supplement with the Age) of all places

Works a treat!
Terrific first post...
