Steam Train - ZigZag Railway

The first of my images from the meet today at ZigZag railway. These obviously concentrate on the train itself...

(Stupidity set in and I left the ISO on 640, which I'd had set for the internal photos! Oh well - live and learn!)

My favourite from the day so far:
Image
12-24DX @ 12mm, f14 1/125th ISO640 :(

Kit lens @ 70mm, f16 1/80th ISO640 :(

Damn those filthy stinking sheepies!!!!! :x

Those three pretty much rule out the three that I was going to post. Bah to you!!!!

I knew I shouldn't have stopped for a shower, and to cook & eat dinner.. Should have been PPing and FTPing.

First one's the winner mate.

Love the first two Leon,

I like the perspective you got on the first.

It was a great day for it, blue sky, a few clouds, great. Sorry I couldn't be there, just too many things on right now.

Looking forward to some more from you and the rest of the participants.

cheers,

André

Don't let me stop you from posting your pics!!! Even if your pics are similar, there will be something slightly unique about them - and we all benefit from seeing how others approach the same subject - this is one of the strengths of this forum :)

It was a great day Gary - can't speak highly enough of the people who give their time up for the place, our guides and drivers were all friendly and genuinely happy to have us there. Even the maintenance guys were helpful and more than willing to pass on info :) We will have to do this one again next year sometime - maybe by then I'll be a bit fitter and be able to join Pippin, etc on the walk down!

I love steam trains. Used to be a fireman back when British Railways existed. All are great shots. My fav is the first. Great wide angle view.

Must be the odd man out eher, #1 doesn't grab me - the angle is too forced. #2 and #3 OTOH are great. Shame I couldn't be there.

Nice shots Leon. My pick here is #3 as it seems closer to the subject and I like the compostion. Cheers, Mick
