I'm new here and i'd like to start off with this image and i'm hoping i get many more.

Model: NIKON D70s
Shutter Speed: 150/10 second
F Number: F/13.0
Focal Length: 31 mm
Date Picture Taken: Jul 9, 2006, 1:00:17 AM

This was kind of a lucky shot because it was getting too cold for me to enjoy taking more photos, so i took two final shots and one of them was this.

I would really like your comments on this as i'm keen to improve with my photography. Thank you.

Nice image. It is difficult to take a well known icon but this works. I like the monotone colouring, not so sure about the starburst light.

I like this. The PP is nice and I kinda like the starburst myself. Most importantly though, the image somehow feels different from other opera house shot which is a good thing in my book.

Nice shot ado_civon. Welcome to the forum. :) :)
I like the monotone effect. Perhaps you could clone out the scaffolding and the spots (lens flare?). The star burst on the light works OK for me.
Used a special long distance lens from Brissie I see.
Cheers,
Mick

thank you Oscar.

Was there with friends, even though Sydney is so busy it cannot be compared to Brisbance but it sure is a beautiful city.

Welcome Ado - nice shot.
My real criticism only lies in your text placement of the words Sydney Opera House - I believe them to be totally un necessary. I also think your sig distracts from the shot.

I like it also,

Not being from Sydney , I am yet to tire of the Opera House.

I agree with the previous post about your text and logo. Too distracting and weakens your image. You don't need to shout your name on your images. Put a faded, smaller explaination on the bottom right hand corner or place a white border around the image and place the text there. Otherwise, a very nice image!

I like this a lot.

is pleasing to see a different view of a much photographed icon

The treatment works wll.

the starburst is ok but perhaps a little brighter than the rest of the image.
would probably be better toned down a bit though.

Wow, terrific image to start off with! While the Opera House is such a heavily photographed icon, this is great, it's a bit different and the star burst light adds to it for me... Tempted to clone out the larger (second) flare but looks terrific! Like what you've done with the toning, well done... :)

Wow, wasn't expecting so much positive feedback. Thank you very much.

The Flare unfortunately is a bit much and "cloning it out" well not too sure how to do that :(.

Matt. K - The reason i've put name and stuff on there so big is because i found it to be used like that on deviantart but that a diff story :)

Once again thank you guys....... i'll post another image soon just need to sort out a few things.

Different and good, like the starburst actually, and yes, a smaller less obtrusive signature would be good, well done, Ozi.
