Went to St David's Park last night to do some night photography with a new member of this forum. Trying out painting statues with multiple flashes. I liked these two.

John

Excellent concept and well executed. I also prefer #2 because of the flash of moon behind the cross.

Thanks for the comments Glen, Chris and Peter. My preference is for the second image. A number of people I have shown the shots to prefer the first, for the feeling of movement in the clouds. The first seems to leap out at you more as a three dimensional object. But's that's probably a matter of directing the flash at the right angle. A bit hit and miss at the moemnt I fear, but I will be going back to the same location for some more shots of this style. Peter, with the moon in the second image, I was actually trying to use the moon to backlight the cross and not be seen, but it does work well just showing that little bit of moon. Might try to give it more of a star burst type of effect. I think there's a PS filter to do that.
