A couple of photo's from my first plays with the D200...

OK - so they show up the softness of the 70-300G, but so far, I'm bloody impressed with this camera :) :) :)

Colours (to my eyes at least) are pretty much spot on. These are both quite tight crops from the original frame -

Why the 70-300G? I was really just trying it out to see how focus performance was (which is definately better than on the D70).

You won't be dissapointed with your new toy Leon, and in your capable hands it will only be a short matter of time before you are showing us your brilliant images! Congrats buddy. Well deserved.

I love the blue one !

I've also gone from a D70 to a D200, partly cos of focus, and I'm finding it hard with things like moving cars to get the settings right, need to practice more!

Absolutely terrible pics Leon  Only joking, I am sure you will find your new camera will lead to more POTW and the blue is terrific :D

Thanks all - one last one on this thread - love the graduations within the same colour. This camera seems to handle this so much better than the D70 (which was no slouch!)...

Will have to do a proper comparison sometime between the two cameras.

Leon I agree 100% - the D200's colour management system seems to perform at an exceptional level :)

The comparison between the D70 and D200 would be agreat service to many of us if you could find the time to do so. :)

As you and others have pointed out sheepie. The colours are great and very well graduated. Enjoy the toy - I know I am. :)

Something I'm finding, is that in post processing there seems to be less need to play with curves - am pretty happy with the images thus far straight off the camera.

I have a few things to get done over the next few days (am finally starting to feel a bit better), but once these are out of the way I'll start on some real playing - I need to try all the picture settings and see how they differ. Will share the results :)

In the meantime, here's a couple more shots from today (yes, I know I said the last one would be the last, but I just can't help myself) - some of you guys sound like you need a little more convincing ;) ...

Nice pics. I agree the D200 does handle colour and, I feel, contrast, much better that the D70. You seem to get more details in both the highlights and shadows.
