Which do people prefer?

Hi casnell IMHO out of the two, number 2 - however in #2 I don't find anything of interest - a great framing device through the window, but I am afraid there is not much to look at? There is a nice composition which leads the eye to the horizon however.

#1 is underexposed and the verticals look off kilter. Maybe a tighter crop to the window and some lightening? Dare I suggest, but the Picasa2 fill light is actually quite a neat way of achieving this.

#1 - you've pulled it off - that's a great shot I feel much more like I was standing at that window looking out at a gorgeous sunny day.

#2 - I'd still be looking to increase the contrast and brighten up the midtones a little.

Thanks ! i think I'm much better at taking them than photo-shopping them.
Contrast i can do, where do i go to brighten the mid-tones?
