Yesterday I took my team out on a cruise as a reward, and I took my D70s with my new Beast along, armed with my SB600 atop.

Very pleased with the results of the day, lots of party candids, and nice backdrops.

I like the bokeh I got, particlauraly nice close to its long end at 70mm, this one is f/8 at 65mm.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS NEW LENS!!! And thanks for the bargains section making them even more affordable!!!

Took some more today of the colorful brighton bathing boxes, and just love the clarity, control, confidence, and color im getting.

Just ordered the 85/1.4, cant wait for that too!!!

I`ve heard nothing but rave reviews about this lens.
I`d love to get one but I just don`t know if I could justify the cost for a lens that effectively starts at 42mm on a D200.
Would be a great walkaround lens on a full frame camera but not so sure with the D200.
Is it REALLY that good

I read a lot about lenses, and this was my #1 on the list. It has a narrow focal range which minimises compromising on quality.

Its a 77mm front, letting in lots of light/color/detail.

For me, Its one of my first investments in long term nikon glass, so it was a very careful consideration.

For my needs, it covers studio, portrait, wedding type pics.

My planned kit is 12-24, 28-70, 80-200, and a 85/1.4

We have seen stunning results fromt he 28-70 2.8 of recent times, these are no exception.

I have recently replaced my monitor and your image looks quite soft to me.
I'm surprised - a collegue of mine who has the 28-70mm f2.8 lens gave me an image of one of his chooks.
That image is SOOOO sharp and SOOOO colour correct - I was amazed - this was on my CRT monitor - now the LCD that I have just runs rings around the CRT - the chook images are now getting to the point of being phantastic.

The 28-70, like most lenses, is a little soft fully wide open at 2.8f. But it's super sharp everywhere else There are not many lenses that are sharp at their widest aperture. The 85mm 1.4f is though.

The 28-70 has a proven track record with pro photogs.
