Paying respects to the King...

Got a small job taking pics for the Bathurst Regional Council.

They wanted images of people paying their respects to Peter Brock. The day was freezing cold, windy and miserable. Just like all good race days at Mt. Panorama.

Anyway, here a few of my favourites:

Brockies fans were all ages.

I really like the first one. It's like the atmosphere and the track are dead after the death of the legend. Has a special feel to it.

Alan,

Nice work.

Is the "graffiti" on the race wall tributes to Peter? If so, I hope that you captured some of those. They're the sorts of things that need to be captured for posterity.

Alan,

excellent images, it appears as though the cloud cover was quite bleak.

the colours are excellent, however it is unfortunate that you had to do the shoot at all.

I'd be much happier if you were photographing Peter Brock flying around the circuit in an O5 car.

Alas no more :(

Keep up the great work. I'd imagine that could become a great spot for some great shots over the next few days.
All I know, is that I don't know enough.....

Thanks for the comments folks. I felt like a bit of a leach photographing people paying their respects.

However, every cloud has a silver lining. Auto-Action and Supercheap Auto have contacted Council wanting images, and have been referred to me. I'll see what they want, but i'm fairly excited.

The lens used were both Sigmas, the 120-300 and the 24-70 (both 2.8) .

A bit of PP in Bibble Pro to bring out the colours, but nothing to serious.

I agree I'd rather be taking images of Brock during a race, rather than people writing on a wall to remember him by... :(

Alan,

I know where you're coming from. This sort of apprehension is perfectly normal, but if you're going to involve yourself in any sort of pj work, learning to separate yourself, as a person, from the professional tasks that you need to undertake, is a difficult, but essential part of the process.

There's something different when you're looking at an emotional scene through the viewfinder of your camera, and it can serve to isolate you from the (sometimes horiffic) scenes that you're capturing.

Given today's date, you might find this site to be of interest.

WOO HOO!

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd just say that Auto Action is publishing one of my images to remember Peter Brock.

I'm pretty chuffed to have an image used for such a big thing!

The image they are using is this one:

Nice work and congratulations. Just curious...are you using auto WB or some other setting? The WB seems a bit inconsistant?

Stubbsy, yeah, getting a few pesos for it, enough to go towards my next camera body anyway.

Matt, I used two different camera bodies, but shot in RAW.

The two warm images I posted I have since changed to make them cooler to fit the rest of the series. The old images still appear here though.

Thanks for the comments folks.
