hi thanks people
shootign backstage at fashion week is a real privilledge
lots of hard work, organization and ass kissing involved

here is an original shot, it's not the exact image but it's similar
original colour balance and lighting pretty much, i de-saturate my pics for a more sophisticated tone

Wendell, great shots mate and well i cant believe Robw25 did not abuse you like he does me!! Anyhow i will, prick, how do you do it??? LOL

What is the lead for off camera flash with D2x and SB800? and is this how you are achieving this?

Cheers
John

SC-29 is the weapon of choice BBJ, it has the AF Assist lights, like on the SB-800, it helps for low light focusing, but is a bit more pricey compared to the SC-28 which is just the cable.

Thanks Craig, could be a handy thing to have i thinks, for that very reason.

rule number 1 never give images to models for free
when you do they expect you to give ewverything for free in the future

anyway at fashion week i signed a contract that images taken can only be used for editorial purposes, it's a standard media contract for photographers at Fashion Week

otherwise modelling agencies would ask cheap photographers to test shoot models at fashion week designers would use runway or backstage shots for advertising at the expense of the fashion week.

anyways thanks for the heads up

BBJ i use the sc-29 much easier to move the flash around when it's off the hotshoe i find if you twist the sb80 alot it gets annoying and after time the hotshoe just gets loose

half of this thing is knowing your subject and scoping out the scene for good light or good surfaces to bounce flash off

keep em comin wendell.... my wife looks at your shots and says "you have a d2x and a 28-70 why cant you do that " .... well i said i havent got a sc-29 !!! "get one then!" .... i will have to think about an excuse when my shots dont come up to your level .. but .. at least i will have the sc-29 ... i hope this doesn't make me seem deceitfull

Rob

Pack all (and I mean ALL) your gear into a backpack, put it on and then tell Lorraine the problem is they are better looking models than her and run like the clappers.

And if Lorraine gets to read this: Sorry Lorraine - don't mean it, as we both know the ugly one in your household is Rob :D

The first two pics remind me of a young Mary Steenburgen, the wife of Ted Danson - she is gorgeous :)
