both good but i really like the first one. very creative as well, i wouldn't have ever considered pencils worthy of photographing. how wrong i was.

There's too much empty space at the top for me in the first photo, but I really like what you've achieved in the second Rel.

For me the spoiling factor in #1 is the obvious use of flash/or natural light that is illuminating the colours in the pencils and hence are a distration.
The second shot is a far superior pic - the colour, the angle the exposure

The first one would make a good "stock" image. Graphic artists love this type of image.
