Was in Sydney last week on a training course and whilst there I picked up a 2nd hand 18-200 VR Nikkor (thanks again Jack). :D

Thought I'd cover all the bases with the obligatory first shot. The first shot, the first post and it's a duck

Then had a bit of a play with the VR capabilities.
This shot's exif:
Hand held ISO 200
Focal length 170mm
1/8s @ f/9

And finally a normal flower shot. So far I'm happy with my new toy :D

I got lucky with mine the rep had just dropped it off and they didn;t even know how much to sell it for - so I also got it for a pretty good price as well!

It's a beauty of a lens though, it did Europe with me and 4000+ photos, you will enjoy and the VR is awesone - I took a crystal sharp 1/2s handheld tonight.

#3 - is my favourite. great DOF and colour

Nice Mark,

I can see why you are happy with it at the moment. Crisp shots with no telling of camera shake on the 1/125sec shot (VR power).

Do you think it might become your new walkaround lens?

Cheers,

Mark

Looks like a sweet lens from this group of quite different pics. I'm looking forward to more from you.

Damn, the person could have sold it on Ebay and made a profit, they are in such short supply

Very well done, and like No. 3 as well, great colours and DoF :D

Cheers :D

Thats one of the beauties of the forum, people are more then happy to make less reselling the lens if they know its going to help out another member and will be put to good use. I've seen plenty of lens, parts, even camera bodies sell for less then ebay could of scored the seller, but its all about giving back to the community, we are already spoilt with the great prices via Poon and the forum, its just another blessing of the forum. :)

Nice work on number 3. Have fun with the new lense too. I noticed one image was taken at 1/8s and looks sharp as. VR must be good.

does anyone know how it rates compared to IS on the canons?

Thanks for the comments folks.

Craig, I think it will make the perfect walkaround lens. Less chance of letting in dust not having to change lenses so often too. :D

Blackspear, they are only in short supply in Australia, readily available in HK as a couple of the members here can attest to this week
