Unfortunately no, not mine. Its a friends of mine. I was bored Sunday evening and the ground was wet so I knew it would make for some interesting shots. We went down to the papermill and I snapped these off. I keep forgetting but I really need to get a remote shutter release. These were all taken at a 200iso in low-light situation. I was using the Nikkor f3.3-f5.8 28-80 lense and using the largest apperature I could (except for the action shot with the light flowing through for longer exposure).
Not sure if anyones familiar with the car but its a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in Speedway White (one year color I believe) with CCW SP500 wheels. LARGE cam, full Ti exhaust, Tune, etc etc. I believe he said it makes right around 420hp to the ground and 390lb ft tq. VERY sweet ride indeed.

Posted: Thu Sep 14, 2006 11:37 amI'd actually prefer to see the car white. Had a quick play in PS but the Red channel is blown on the car so it's hard to convincingly correct the colour cast without spending a bit of time on it.
Did you take these as RAW files? If so, just go back to your original RAW and do a click-balance on the car then combine the two images (factory WB and car WB) and you'll have an even sexier image!
Good effort tho - love the smoke swirling around in the air above the factory; you should go back with a long lens, there are some nice opportunities there!

Touche here mate, ace shot of the pollution belching forth from the factory, almost surreal. As for the 'Vette, what more can you say? Give me one ...

Steam guys, steam. Paper mills make a lot of steam, not smoke (unless they're very old). Wood chips are pulped under high temperature and pressure, giving off lots of steam. The paper drying process also uses super heated steam pumped under pressure thru many dryer cyclinders to dry the sheet as it travels over the cylinders at speeds of 1200+ metres per minute. So lots of steam.

this guy is very not stupid, haha. I was gonna comment on the pollution comment but yeah, just steam.
Thanks for all the great reviews. I didnt shoot in RAW, Doh! The problem with the color cast is all the lighting around the car was the yellow-ish street lights. I took them from VERY yellow to what they are now. BTW: papermills produce steam as discussed but that can stink pretty badly here and there, haha.
