OK - at the very end of the day, when the real models had had just about as much of cameras in their faces as anyone could possibly handle, I wanted to try something I've been wanting to try for a long time - Multi SB800's in remote mode.

One of the many really cool features of the D200 is it's ability to remotely control two banks of Creative Lighting System flashes (of which the SB800 is a part), plus still use the onboard flash - all independantly of each other! This means that each bank can have it's own individual exposure settings, all measured via the camera's metering system to provide a balanced but completely controllable exposure.

For this shot, we had my SB800 with a silver reflector to the right, another SB800 slightly forward of that, the onboard, and another SB800 to the left. OK, it's not a brilliant shot, and there are definate hotspots from a bit of harsh lighting - but this was within 3 or 4 shots of starting to experiment. Imagine the potential (albeit reasonably expensive) of a lighting setup such as this - and it's extremely portable!

Flash bank 1 (right) +0.7EV, Flash bank 2 (left) -1.3EV, Overall flash -0.3EV

And as an example of what great value the 50mm1.8 is, have a look at this 100% crop...

Im surprised with the results :)

3x SB800 (3x$450), value of $1350, this could have gotten into nearl full studio setup already.

But then, portability outdoors, this is greatest thing you can ever have in your bag.

The original looks a bit over sharpened on my monitor?, unless of course it really is grey hair?

Grey hair? I can't see any grey hair. Those eyebrows look very natural. Leon hasn't played with the colouring at all!!! Maybe I need to re-calibrate my monitor though! :) :D :)

Sheepie, nice results from using multiple SB800s. They certainly give you great flexibility with the d200.
Cheers
