I liked these shots and thought they looked really good in B&W. This is my first go at B&W so let me know how I could improve these shots (OK I know I should have got another photographer already) :

They're both very lovely looking..... photos..

The B&W are missing some contrast. Which B&W CF card are you using?  BTW, you may try increasing the blue channel and overal curves to define some more contrast out of these. Ofcourse, a Tri-X 80X or Neopan 150X CF Card may help reduce the hassles.

Nice photos Mick. You need to shout out "look at moi" a bit louder mate. The black and white conversions have produced nice skin tones, but both images lack a little in contrast. As Yi-P said, a simple curves or channel adjustment will give them much more punch.

Thanks Glen, I preferred the first post - but I am trying to learn more on PP so I gave it a go. I tried a few other settings after the last post but kept going back to the original post I preferred.
Still looking for options - maybe I just need a tutor!

i prefer the repost of the 2nd version as it provides more contrast between the models and the background. The first version, while the pose is a bit better, just seems a bit flat.

Also in the first photo, the elder lady looks like she has a vein popping out just below her mouth (on her right side, our left). Might be just the way she smiles or the way the light just happened to bounce off her face creating an illusion. Either way, that's the first thing I noticed and it killed the photo for me.
