Well at the risk of being a complete hipocyrite i am going to post here. I need feedback (good and bad) how could i ever get any better without it. I was a sook the other day....very stupid of me!

I re arranged my shoot yesterday at the last minute, here are the results!

Dan, for me the 1st one is actually my favourate (I say actually as I wouldn't normally go for very high-key stuff). The main focus seems to be her eye which works really well for me.

I must say the last one doesn't do much for me. The 'lower' girl's face seems washed out and the overall lighting doesn't look right to me, but that's my opinion

1st one is great - very arty
2nd - I'd like to see the top of her head.
3rd is very nice
4th would be fantastic if the model kneeling was looking at the camera, it looks like she was distracted.

Overall bloody nice shots, you've gotta be happy with these.

What was the aim of the shoot? Some context would really help my viewing of these (are these for the office wall or for a glam mag?)

Number one is great, love it

Number 2 - nice lighting but her head is cut off and I find the shells/sand distracting

#3 - nice, again probably a little tight at the top and sand distracts

#4 - very glam, larry or hugh would love it.

Yeah Blackspear, the top of the head thing is an interesting one. If you have a look at MOST magazine cover girls, the top of the head is almost never shown, its all about the positioning of the eyes.I’ts a style of portraiture i was taught. I had a hard time cutting the heads of at first thinking it was wrong, but yeah it actually is not! Now i am sweet with it!

Good to see you are back. Nos 1 and 2 are my picks. I think high key is working well in No.1. No. 2 the pose looks quite natural and very good eye contact. No. 3 looks a bit unnatural as far as posing goes and No. 4 I agree that the 2nd model would look better with the eye contact with the camera.

Great result overall.

#1 is your best.

While I know that its a something of the fashion industry to shoot a portrait with the top of the head cut off, I still find it absolute crap.

In working with fashion photographers, I've wondered if those that do it are only doing it because they don't know how to artfully compose a portrait and think this is the way to do it.

That said, #1 shows you can compose a portrait. The rest don't phase me, really.

The last shot doesn't really do much for me. As some who loves his nude & naturalistic as well as erotic photography more than most people, I don't really see much of an intent in the image besides just shooting two girls with each other.

Still, this series compared to your past few posts of images shows that you had an idea that you were trying to achieve, or rather you knew what you wanted to get when you started looking through the viewfinder, as these images aren't victims of PP overkill.

Nice images. I like number 1 and 3 the best. I think the crop is a bit close to her hat in three, but it's still a great image.

And of course, I like number 4. I'm male.

#1 Beautifully composed and the high key effect works a treat here
#2 My fave from the set. Love composition and colour...she really stands out...

#1 Is great love the high key it really works well, and the eye looking back at you, its a strong image one I could see on canvas hanging somewhere chic (spelling)?

#2 My pick of the rest as its fits the Ralph FMH style mould for a model cover shot.

Thanks for coming back, and posting more of your work I've checked out your gallery and there are some gems on there, I suggest others take a peek if they have time.

I like the lighting of No 4, it would better if the lower model was looking to the camera.

The 1st shot does nothing for me at all. On my monitor there is very little detail, to the point of why bother. Now that just may be my monitor. I think I go a little against the grain and really have very little appreciation of high key photography.

hot!... i wanna b a modeling photographer too... no. 4 is too pron but then maybe dats your aim... no. 1 would be a great poster... hot!

then all the technical stuff


i actually like your first too if it was a tight crop of just her face the high key works in that area, the chest area the bra sticks out too much it looks out of place with all the finer tones in the image

Dan, I think the first one is a cracking shot, great composure, and I also like the very last one (No. 6).

To me the pebbles/sand whatever it is, is distracting, and should have been brushed off.
