Another from yesterday's macro experiments. This one is not as sharp around the edges as I wanted to concentrate on the iris patterns - C&C appreciated. :D

Simon - the problem with macro and the super shallow DOF is the plane or angle of the shot. In this pic, which BTW I like, shows that the angle was slightly inclined more to the bottom of the shot. This is evident by the sharpness of the bottom compared to the top. The eye itself is slightly out of focus as well.

But, as I state above, I like this shot and you must be extremely happy with your new purchase. :D

thats some serious eye colour.

I'd prob try and go just for the iris, get whoever to hold their eye open if need be to get the whole thing, gaffer tape maybe. cause that colour is great and a whole images of just that would be very compelling

Thanks fellas. :)

Chris - well spotted and great advice. Though I know DOF is the critical factor with these lenses, knowing exactly what's going on with it and then being able to make the necessary corrections is how the real experts get the results. Thanks for the tip. This was shot at 1/60sec f32 with flash (obviously) but was handheld and manually focussed. I know I was moving around a bit as the shutter release was pressed so the focus point would have moved. Tripod next time!

Matt - this is my 13yr old daughter. As Chris mentioned in my other post, she takes after her mother!

Simon - I pushed the cyan and blue sats up to +10. Not a great deal but just enough to separate some of the colours in the iris, the blues/greens/oranges and whites. I was amazed when I saw the full-size original and can see why iridologists can lose themselves in their work!

Oh...I'm out of gaffer tape. Staple gun perhaps?
