I had a portrait shoot today at Coogee - with a 2 1/2 year old! Challenging to say the least but I got some ones I was pretty happy with. Here is one. Comments and critique welcomed as always:
and a slightly different shot, in colour:

Geoff, I think stick with the colour version of the kid. The b&w version freaked me out somewhat with his big eyes and sharp incisors. Otherwise they're pretty good. Also maybe clone out the runny nose

That's a great pic, but definitely the colour one as the eyes look weird in B & W
In the colour one, the whites of his eyes look a touch cyan so maybe the WB is off (but my monitor calibration is a little whacky
ATM so I may be wrong)

I like the second, with the eyes turned. captures the hightened observations that children have.
THe black and white is a little demon like, but if you can mask a layer, and whiten the eyes, maybe teeth, you should have a nice keeper.
I know how hard it is running after toddlers outdoors, I'm still trying to capture at least 10 keepers of my 18 month old niece.

Hi Geoff,
I actually prefer the B&W. Nice eye contact with the camera. The colour one is excellent too.

Geoff,
I have to agree with the B&W being a little bit freaky with those eyes.
Its a great expression and smile of the kid, however I have to say that those two poles, they're bit obstructive in the way, one may be enough here.

I too would go with the colour on this one - just. I like the B&W alot but a little freaky. With the colour version I would also try and PP the fringing you can see around the top of the hair.
Cheers,
