The Last of the Snow for Winter.

Hi All,
I had my first and last snow chase of the season last Sunday, during a cold outbreak across SE Australia. Trotted up to Lake Mountain just out of Marysville, and snapped a few pics. We couldn't make it to the Summit/top carpark as the road was under snow and we didn't have chains and it was too dangerous!

You'll have to excuse the colour cast on a few as they were taken through the windscreen

Nice pictures, stormygirl. Especially the 2nd one. The composition is good. I like the atmosphere captured on the image.

Jane, I really like the first one, the footsteps.
It makes you wonder, what is around the corner.
Hopefully we'll have some more cold weather (here in Hobart) so can get some last minute winter shots.

Jane - crop off the top of pic 2 to remove teh overhanging leaves and it'll be sweet

Wayne, I'd thought about cropping the leaves out of the 2nd one, and thought I should clone instead....but didn't get around to it!
Johnd, The footsteps was a complete set up, I was just glad my 3 year old Son didn't follow me while I was leaving my imprints!

#1 - very nicely done here, but the snow isnt very white to my like. Whitening the snow, cool down the WB and increasing the contrast can boost up the first sight appearance here.
#2 - Again, very nice one. As suggested, crop or clone out the distracting piece of branch in the upper frame.
#3 - too much green and little white for snow here, doesnt work much for me sorry.

Hi Yi-p,
This is pretty much how #1 looked. The snow was very sloshy and half frozen on the road....hence why it doesn't look very white! The rest on the side of the road is about as white as I could get it without blowing the highlights, and further up the embankment it was shadowed under trees and very thin...hence the green look about it! Shot in JPG, so I can't adjust the WB.
With regards to #3, it was taken through the windscreen and is why it has the colour cast on it. I tried to adjust as best I could, but still didn't really work. It was too cold to have the window open and stick my head out of the moving car......plus I didn't fancy my kids in the back getting frost bite from the wind chill!!
