Here are some photographs from the night my camera stopped working. Taken at my friend's church's performance thing.

I was seated in the second last row, so had to zoom in - though I would have prefered to be up the front taking photos

Tell me what you think, it's not that I can shoot the same pictures again, but maybe some things to remember for next time.

(oh, and about my camera not working...
the autofocus stopped working, it would continually hunt. I thought it was the lens, until I changed lens and it continued being unable to lock focus.
When I got home, I took the lens off and lifted up the mirror and saw that the secondary mirror was stuck directly under the mirror - explaining why the autofocus didn't work. So I unstuck the mirror and thought all was fine, but then after that, all the pictures came out 1/3 black, as the secondary mirror would not lift then the main mirror lifted and shutter opened. Someone showed me some DIY fix guides online, but I'm a bit scared, brought it to Canon and they said it'll take 4 weeks, and to get a quote will cost $50. I'm planning to get it fixed when I go to Singapore, since if I can't use it in the next 4 weeks anyway, then it's exam time (not much time to take photographs), then I'm off. I'm also having thoughts of getting another DSLR)

That is a tragedy. Sorry to hear about your cam.

I prefer the first shot oer the second but would consider cloning out the minorly distracting things on the edge of the shot in the bottom left region.

Thanks for pointing out the distracting detail in the bottom corner - next time I will try be more careful when framing the thing to make sure that those aren't in the picture. I also prefered the first one Thanks!

Did you talk to them about submitting it for repair (without a quote) with a cost limit on it? That way if the cost is going to go above that they'll call you to check, otherwise it'll just get done. Just a thought...
Unfortunately if you get a separate quote the $50 is not offset against the repair cost if you go ahead.

Actually my mother brought it in for me
She told me that the limit is $250. (then she told me to give up taking pictures and collect stamps instead ) I'm deciding what to do, scared that it'll end up costing $250. Someone in Singapore with the same problem said that they got it fixed for S$125, so I was considering getting it done there when I go. Either way, I'll need to have it repaired.
