Water DropsIts amazing what I can occupy myself with on a boring afternoon at home...
water droplets falling into a glass.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Great effort and I like them a lot, but with a bit more experimenting I think you could do better.
A bit more sharp & more of a wider angle to show a ripple effect maybe. Mic ![]()
Good idea...I will make a point to try the wider angle....it was my first attempt at this sort of shot..and to be honest with you I only shot about 25 frames...yup I bore easily..lol.. Thanks for the Critique ![]()
Great try!!
You may want to get some more brighter colour for the background for next try. And maybe some splashes and waves from the drops?
CongratulationsCongratulations, Bindii. They are all great images and I wish I could be as good as you. For some reason I prefer number 2, but don't ask me why...
Re: Congratulations
It wasnt hard at all Zafra..Pm me if you want the specs on how I did it if you want to give it a shot ![]() And yes...I like number 2 also...probably because the format is different...in hindsight I should have taken more in this format...oh well we live and learn dont we.
I think from memory I took 25 frames....and about 15 of them were usable...but hoestly how many water drop shots does a girl need...lol It was fun though ![]()
I love them Bindii! Excellent images. I'd be keen to hear how you did it and with what lighting setup. PM on its way...

I'd like to know what set-up you used for these too Bindii. I suspect there may be quite a few others as well. Maybe you might consider posting here rather than sending multiple PM's? Your choice of course

i like the last one as it shows a trail, rather than just a floating droplet

Good point ABG...I've recieved a lot of Pm's on how I did these shots...so here it is... It was too easy...I put some cardboard behind it...hence the green background...filled a glass to overfilling and placed the glass in a red dish...cause I didnt have any red cardboard and I wanted a red reflection in the water....focused on the top of the glass...manually as auto just wasn't cutting it...chose the fastest shutter speed I could...and set the flash to strobe....I had to have the flash on the camera as I dont have a off shoe mount...I used an eye dropper to drop water into the glass and just fired away with a remote shutter cable... I took about 25 shots in three bursts and this is what I got... ![]()
Sounds easy enough....but I've tried to do the same thing with a ping pong ball bouncing down a corridor and there were a few very ordinary images came out of it! You've done really well with these ones Bindii so I guess the rest of us just have to keep persevering. Do you remember the strobe settings you used? We Nikon types may have to adjust a bit for our SB800s. ![]() Simon

Nice shots Bindii. I hope you didn't waste that water, with all those water police hanging around Brisbane.
