The zoo - which celebrated its 90th birthday today, as it happens - is located on the harbour, and there is little that is a more Sydney type of outing than, on a fine srping day such as we had today, catching a morning ferry from the Quay to the zoo, and then spending the day wandering around with the animals, observing the zoo exhibits.
As can be seen from these images, there is much to be seen, and that extends well beyond the traditional zoo offerings.
With cheap airfares available, and inexpensive harbourside accommodation available through the forum, a Sydney visit, joining us for our Christmas dinner, plus an outing to our zoo, should been on everybody's list.

For me the only one that works is the third one. That is one cool look on the Koala's face, and a rare catch! Well done!
Maybe a wee-bit crop on the left-hand side to get rid of the chaff...

Great photos.
20 years ago I did a very similar shot of a Giraffe on slide film at Taronga Zoo.
Back then they had an opening cut in one of the palisade fences.
The view through the opening was towards the Opera House.
They also put up a plaque which had writing similar to this on it:
Dear visitors, here you can see the natural inhabitant in its environment ...
Someone had humor back then.
