Beautiful spot. Photos don't do it justice.
These are pretty well straight out of the camera with a touch of sharpening. I deliberately set the WB in the sunset ones to Cloudy, so as to warm up the colour. C&C appreciated. Two from Gataker's Bay

In the second image, along the rh edge of the subject, and just below the waterline. I think I'm seeing rimlighting, but I can't tell if it's that, or haloing from a tad too much sharpening. Please enlighten me. In that same image, are there some shadow details from this lovely lady's face that you can coax from it? I'm seeing the barest hint that there may be some there, and I think it might enhance this image. g.

Good pick-up Gary - it's rimlighting. I specifically zeroed in on these edges while I was sharpening to make sure I didn't overdo it. There's not much shadow detail left in Emily's face. I (very cautiously) exposed for the brightest part of the sunset and then recomposed to put the sun behind her, to maximise the silhouette effect. I just had a look at the RAW and pumped up the exposure but had to go three stops to even acheive the slightest, albeit very grainy, detail in those areas. Something I'll keep in mind next time but I was really going for a complete 'cut-out' silhouette in this shot. Simon

OK, that's exactly what I thought you were aiming for, and achieving, but of course it never hurts to ask, does it? 
Next time, just to keep me happy, once you've done the shot that you want, pop the flash up, dial it down to -2 and -3, and shoot one of each with only the addition of that little bit of fill. IO think the results could be very nice. Or I could be totally wrong, but there's only one way to know for sure. g.

as I see it, #1 and #3 are pretty good and pleasing images, but #2 is an excellent picture looking for a better crop. Maybe worth playing around a bit with... Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
