Been in a classical mood lately and was fortunate to attend the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra performance last Saturday night.

First time I've been to listen to classical music live and the experience gave me chills :) They performed 3 pieces - Symphony of Psalms, Mourning and the Light within (premiere) and Carmina Burana.

Basically also gave me a chance to test out the 80-200 AF-D on the pod as well. Managed to source a collar/bracket for it :D

Anyway, enough with the words - here are the pics I'd like to share.

No.1 is nice but seems a bit tilted to me or is it an illusion ?

No. 2 has nice grain and feel to it.

I think it's just the angle the photo was taken from. Should be able to warp it slightly with PS if its an issue.

Wayne, I really like these shots, particularly the first one, but tell me, how did you get enough light for them? Must be some very powerful lights there. Or is this high ISO, f2.8 etc?

Cheers
John

thanks for the comments

alex - i was sitting off centre unfortunately hence the slight tilt on the stage :S

john - there was barely enough light on them for ISO800. I varied b/ween ISO 800 to ISO1600 at f2.8 to f4. Also I reduced the shutter speed to 1/60 (with the 80-200 @ 200mm ;)) or 1/30 with the 20mm at 2.8 i think.
