First attempts at insect macro's and its bloody hard! I soooo need to practice my handholding techniques as well as rocking back and forth, much harder then i initially thought.

Well here are my 1:1 attempts, they're no LordV macro's but we all have to start from the bottom
With young_einstein's recent macro adventures, I thought i might try a little of my own

Not too worried about composition and stuff right now, as I was just over-excited that I actually got an infocus shot of these buggers, they're quick.

These aren't cropped at all, just a resize to 800 x 533, flash was used and the exif should still be intact.

Tell me what you guys think..

Wow...they are great macro shots...and even more so if they are your first insect macro's..

great, more photos that make we want more equipment.

may have to invest in some extension tubes.

Thank you for your kind words, but i'm sure provided you have a macro lens, flash and some patience, you can get images that you will be happy with.

Man these are crap compared to the ones on photograph on the net or fred miranda, but i was happy with them so thats what counts i guess

Sigma 150mm macro lens with flash on a bracket and Lumiquest softbox.

I'm sure you'll get a better idea with a picture, after all, a picture tells a thousand words
