Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Everyday flowersWell, with my tooth infection not much I could do today - so I took the camera and an old 50 1.8 MF up and down the back lane - and discovered a 'riot' of colour just over my back fence -welcome to the back streets of Newtown

Justin - I know what it's like when you get frustrated and just have to shoot something. (Or even take photos of something)
The first three are either a little too busy or lack a central theme. I reckon you've come close to isolating the subjects with your compositions in #2 and #3 but they still lack something. #4 is interesting but, unlike my esteemed colleagues here, it's not my fav. Despite the composition, I actually like the colours in #2 - the violet background broken by the yellow blooms is something I find quite relaxing. Okay, where're the keys to my Kombi... Simon

I'll add my vote for #4 as well.

Thanks all ... #4 was the easiest of all the shots, a wall of ivy a natural subject. I think #2 has some potential so will have another stab at it...
#1 was just the 'riot'. #3 I think also has some potential so I'll play some more with this as well. anybody lend me a pair of pliers for some DIY dentristry? D3 | 18-200VR | 50:1.4 | 28:2.8 | 35-70 2.8 | 12-24 f4
