A couple of shots from the airshow.

The second picture works better than the first for me. I think it is sharper and conveys more movement and speed than the first one.

What metering method did you choose, and what PP has been done besides cropping?

I like the FA-18 better of the two, even though the F-111 is my favourite of the two. I think there is a little too much detail lost in the shadows in the F-111 and the Shell awning is a little distracting.

Would have been great to see them take off with full afterburner though I watched one do that from Amberley the other day on the way back from a motorosports event, afterburner and then went straight vertical into the low clouds, would have been a great shot.

Panning is really done well, I take it with the VR? Nice level of sharpness and focus over the entire length of the jets!

I just used matrix metering in Programmed Auto mode at 1/80 sec shutter speed and F/14 aperture for the F111 shot. It was using an 80-400Vr lens.

I would have liked some of the other shots with the afterburner but I couldn't change settings quick enough for these aircraft and they didn't turn out as good. I think spot metering would have been better for the afterburner shots and the underneaths of the aircraft, but it's always the case of realising this afterwards

I find center weighted with 8mm or 6mm selection works rather well for motorsport. Although in bright conditions with a light or highly reflective paint job I do move to spot every now and then.

Great shots. I was taking a few snaps of these at Amberly AFB a few weeks ago but couldn't get close enough to the action.
