I'd clone out that bee - it's getting in the way of the flowers
Nicely done on the second shot - I prefer that to the first, which I think could have been slightly better with a larger DOF (yeah, I know, you just can't please them all

)

the lens costed me about $80
its not a nikon or a canon, but it is a well known brand.
it is 100mm+
guess the lens

Amazing. I am in complete awe when I see pictures as crisp as this of all these zippy bugs. I find it hard enough keeping focus just on the flower!

Technically I think they are weeds!! Onion weed is what I suspect!

sorry for the bump, but can anyone id the bug in this photo?
its not a bee right?
btw the lens used was a 135mm carl zeiss jena F3.5 with 2 ext tubes on it

Yes they are called Hover Fly's, but I dont know their scientific name. I've had some of my photo's of them identified.
