Some of you may know I recently went on a dirt bike tour riding from Cape York to Cairns. This was the line up of bikes that greeted the tour participants on arrival at Punsand Bay, Cape York.

Shot taken with the nikkor 105 microVR.
Image

Aperture: f/2.8
ISO: 200
Focal Length: 105mm (157mm 35mm)
Exposure Time: 0.0028s (1/350)

Shots from the tour (some really crappy) can be found here http://craigsvtr.smugmug.com/gallery/2034404

Great capture!

I like the way that the front guards shift tone from red to yellow through the image.

I've also had a look through your gallery - some good stuff there too.

It'd be a great ride through that country... I'd like to take BMW 1200GS Adventure on a similar tour.

Thanks for the comments guys.

It was a great trip and having ridden only road bikes for the last 25 years it was hard work. Lots and lots of very deep sand, beaches, rocks ,ruts, gullys and deep deep creeks. A couple of the creeks we had to carry the bikes over.

Unfortunately when riding I could not carry the camera  , as I was too scared I would bite the dust (happened twice  ) and break it. When driving the support vehicle I had the camera but the bikes were way out in front  , so no action shots.

Bernie. The bikes were filthy and a couple were slightly bent.

Daniel r. the reds are xr Hondas, the orange were KTM 450 & 525s and the yellow were DR Suzukis.
I think a 1200gs would be a real handful on some of the tracks we rode, but would be great on the more open roads.

Rel. The 105 is great for all types of shots. Thanks for the recommendation. :D :D

John. Yep, hard work, but lots of fun. :D :D

Killakoala. Sure was a great ride through fantastic country. :D :D

Thanks
Craig
