Coffee in Melbourne

This was the first coffee I had in Melbourne, at St Ali

It was really (probably badly) backlit, but I liked how the backlight made it look like a black and white photo with a colour detail. No PP, apart from shrinking the photo file size.

C&C welcome.

Really nice, but would like to see a more complete view of the cup, a bit of pieces been cut off from the view...

Oh, how did the coffee taste? I hope you didnt wait enough for it to cool down while taking pics :)

Nice shot Matty. The problem with well textured milk is that it has a glossy sheen to it that can be hard to capture from an angle as it can reflect light easily.

Perhaps you should have gone to GJ or SB to get a crappy coffee?

Sure ... this was the other shot I took before drinking - different aspect, more cup, and a bit more colour:

Nah, I try and get my photo's taken pretty quickly - I snapped two quickies of this coffee, then got drinking!

I visited another cafe in Canterbury and had a coffee there - it's made to drink straight away, as the milk and crema is settling. It's a different coffee experince. So to capture that experience, I shot the empty cup.

Yeah. Tastes so good but!

I guess also, the backlight and reflection conveyed to me a strong 'morning' feel - waking up, first thought on my mind being coffee etc.

heh ... there's plenty of other crappy places I could've gone to! Though I did see two starbucks's on opposite sides of the road ... very Shrek 2 moment.

The other mentionalbe place was the GPO at Melbourne Central. Not as good as St Ali or The Maling Room, but drinkable.

The 2nd image is much better. The composition and the tone is much stronger than the first pic.
